In the summer of 1990, after years spent living as nomadic baristas in their remodeled school bus, Tim and Liz Weyer ventured to Southwest Montana in search of a place where they could raise a family and share their passion for specialty coffee. They found that community in Bozeman and spent their first several years in the Gallatin Valley operating a mobile coffee bar and bringing up two sons, Ben and Will.
Then, in the summer of 1998, with a vision inspired from their days on the road, the Weyer family built a one-room log cabin at a mile high on Quinn Creek. Later that fall, Tim completed his first roast in a 3-Kilo Diedrich, and Yellowstone Coffee Roasters was born.
Now we operate on a 15-acre homestead where, in 1806, Sacajawea led William Clark across the high meadows of the Bozeman Pass. Though Montana and the rest of the world continue to change, our passion and simple approach to coffee has remained consistent. We still roast each coffee to its own unique profile by sight and smell, the traditional way. Our goal is to craft the very best cup of coffee you’ll ever taste, every time.
