Boneless fillets of wild-caught lake trout and lake whitefish from Flathead Lake. Fillets range from 5-20 ounces, are vacuum-packed, and flash frozen the same day they are caught.
The Confederated Salish and Tribes have close cultural ties to native fish and wildlife and have long relied on them for subsistence and spiritual needs. Non-native lake trout threaten these values by diminishing native trout abundance. The Tribes are countering the threat in Flathead Lake by employing multiple fisheries management tools to reduce lake trout abundance, including incentivized harvest by recreational anglers and netting.
The Tribes established Native Fish Keepers, Inc. (NFKI) in 2017 to bring fiscal sustainability to our program to conserve native fish in Flathead Lake. The cost of suppression of lake trout exceeds available funding and therefore all revenue generated by NFKI goes back into lake trout suppression.
When purchasing our products, you are supporting conservation of native bull trout and westslope cutthroat trout in the Flathead watershed and the communities that rely on them.
