The Montana Geospatial Information Advisory Council (MGIAC) will meet on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in room 152 at the Montana State Capitol in Helena, MT. Meeting attendance will also be available on Zoom.

In this meeting, the Council will hear standing reports from MAGIP and the GIS Coordinator. The State Librarian will provide updates about Legislation and Administrative Rules. The Council will discuss the Council Bylaws updates, the FY25 Grant Program, Council representative to MAGIP Board of Directors, Council 2024 meeting dates, the 2024 Big Sky GeoCon MGIA Council panel, NSGIC participation at the Midyear Meeting in Arlington, VA on March 25-28, 2024, and the Strategic Goal 3: Develop Policies & Best Practices for GIS Data. They will consider action the Council representative to MAGIP Board of Directors and the 2024 meeting dates.

There will be a Council orientation & working session immediately following the meeting to discuss revised legislation and the future of the Council. No business will be conducted.

Members of the public who wish to share written comments or pertinent visual materials to the Council must submit written public comments to GIS Coordinator, Erin Fashoway, no later than 48 hours before the start of the public meetings.

The Montana Geospatial Information Advisory Council was established by statute through the Montana Land Information Act with the purpose of establishing a planning framework for land information and granting process for Montana. Members of the Council represent state agencies, county or municipal governments, federal government, private business, tribal government interests, Montana university system, Montana association of GIS Professionals, and Montana association of registered land surveyors.
