The Montana State Library Commission meets at least six times per year. Commissioners include Elsie Arntzen - Superintendent of Public Instruction, Vice-Chair Tom Burnett of Bozeman, Carmen Cuthbertson of Kalispell, Tammy Hall of Bozeman, Brian Rossmann - Commissioner of Higher Education Appointee, Chair Robyn Scribner of Geraldine, and Peggy Taylor of Whitefish.

The Commission will consider action on the consent agenda, Fiscal Year 2023 4th quarter financial report, Fiscal Year 2023 Federation reports, Commission bylaws, Public Information Officer position, State Pay Plan Policy and discretionary pay, and Draft Administrative Rules. They will discuss the Network Advisory Council, Public Library Standards adopted in 2021, and the Continuing Education and Certification Program as adopted June 2023. They will receive standing reports and information items from the State Librarian on the FY 24 Work Plan Dashboard, monthly Governor’s Report on Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures, Fiscal Year 2023 Montana State Library annual report, website dead links report, Interim Budget Committee Hot Spot Lending Report, Fiscal Year 2024 1st quarter contracts report, Fiscal Year 2024 1st quarter personnel report and Partner Feedback.

On October 10, 2023, the Commission will be touring the Livingston-Park County Library at 1 p.m., the Carnegie Public Library in Big Timber at 3:00 p.m., and attending a reception at the Stillwater County Library at 6:00 p.m. No business will be conducted at any of these gatherings.

Please note that October 9, 2023 is a State government holiday, so comments must be received by noon on Friday, October 6, 2023 to be included in the posted meeting materials.
