Public invited to learn about safety improvements for Secondary 206 between Kalispell and Columbia Falls.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) will host an open house on Thursday, June 27 to share information about the Secondary 206 Safety Improvements Project between Kalispell and Columbia Falls in Flathead County.

The open house will be held in the gymnasium at Deer Park Elementary (2105 Middle Rd., Columbia Falls). The public is invited to stop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to learn more about the project and ask questions.

"This section of Secondary 206 has had a significant number of roadway departure crashes resulting in serious injuries and fatalities over the past five years," said MDT Project Design Manager Bill Squires. "The improvements MDT is proposing will help make this road safer and that is our number one goal."

Proposed improvements include widening shoulders, flattening steep slopes on the side of the road, and adding guardrail and rumble strips. The public is encouraged to attend the open house to get more information and provide feedback to MDT staff about the improvements.

More information about the project can be found at: www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/secondary206. Questions and comments about the meeting can be directed to Brandon Coates at Brandon@rbci.net or by phone at (406) 465-3350.

If you require an accommodation, contact the Department of Transportation no later than June 24, 2019, to advise us of the nature of the accommodation that you need.
