The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has scheduled an open house to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to design and reconstruct approximately 8 miles of U.S. Highway 212 from north of Roberts to Boyd in Carbon County. The open house will be held in Roberts on Tuesday, May 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Roberts School, 106 Maple Street. Project team members will be available during the open house to discuss the proposed reconstruction and present the alternatives under current evaluation. Proposed work includes new surfacing, shoulder widening, passing lanes, drainage improvements, and irrigation facilities. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety and operational characteristics of the roadway. This project does not have a construction date. A construction date will depend on completion of design, right-of-way acquisition, and availability of funds. New right-of-way and relocation of utilities will be required. MDT staff will contact all potentially affected landowners prior to performing survey work on their land. Staff will again contact landowners prior to construction regarding property acquisition and temporary construction permits.
