The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking input from the public on developing the state’s first pedestrian and bicycle plan.

A series of open house workshops will be hosted across the state to help develop the vision and goals for the Montana Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan. The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 15, in Havre from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Havre Inn & Suite (1425 Highway 2 NW).

The public is encouraged to attend to share its thoughts on pedestrian and bicycle travel, and to learn about the planning process. A collaborative effort will help MDT develop and implement a plan to meet the needs of transportation users across the state.

Public input will help MDT determine focus areas for non-motorized transportation such as safety and education, system preservation and maintenance; mobility, health, and economic vitality; accessibility and connectivity; and barriers and challenges.

For more information on the Montana Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan, please visit the project website at:

MDT will be hosting workshops at additional locations across the state at later dates. Please check the website for more information.

Your participation and feedback are important to the planning process. An electronic survey is also available on the website to help assess the existing needs for pedestrian and bicycle transportation in Montana. To submit comments, mail your comments online at the above web address or to MDT – Ped Bike, P.O. Box 201001, Helena, MT 59620.
