Originally published in 1985, this is the catalog of the Fred E. Miller photograph collection which is now housed in the Montana Historical Society Photo Archives.

From 1898 to 1910, Fred E. Miller was clerk of the Crow Reservation. He also served as reservation superintendent, U.S. Commissioner, and Justice of the Peace, and he photographed the Crow people as they were adapting to reservation life. This book includes 102 spectacular photographs, many with the names and birth and death dates of the people in the photos.

The catalog also includes an introduction by Miller's granddaughter, Nancy Fields O'Connor. and essays by Barbara Novack, William Stapp, Joe Medicine Crow and Dr. Margot Liberty.
